Cold porcelain recipe!

Cold porcelain recipe!!

Cold porcelain princess

Cold porcelain is the greatest dough ever!

No need to bake it, non toxic, and it´s not real porcelain (similar to sculpey, actually)

This magnificent material is originary from Argentina. It gets really hard, but it dilutes on water and it´s not suitable for making crockery.

It's a great product for modelling with your kids, and you can make your own with this recipe.

INGREDIENTS
7 ounces of elmer´s glue
5 ounces of corn starch
1 Tbsp of vegetal oil (or baby oil)
1 Tbsp of vinegar or lemon
1 Tbsp of white paint (non toxic poster paint)
Hand cream (for kneading purposes)

HOW TO:
Mix all the ingredients on a low heat non-stick saucepan, using a wooden spoon.
Stir all the ingredients for 20 - 25 minutes, taking care that all the ingredients are blended into one homogeneus mixture.

While we stir, we'll notice that the mixture becomes thicker, the dough will be ready when it gets off totally of the edges of the saucepan.

Once is ready, with the dough still warm (as soon as you can) knead it making good pressure and mixing it well.

Now we can place the dough inside a ziploc bag, removing all the air and when it gets room temperature it's ready to go to the fridge!

Wait at least one day before using it...

To dye it you can use acrylic pain, oil pain, poster paint (fluorescent poster paint rocks!!!)
Don´t put to much paint to it or it wil crack.

Good luck!

Bubbles everywhere!

Here in Argentina the toy industry is almost nule...

But some brilliant toy maker "invented" Toto the frog, wich is a toy i've seen tons of times.....made by mothers all over the world.

The idea is simple: a straw, some detergent inside the mouth and a terry cloth on top.

Pom-poms "angry bird style"

Pom-poms are one of those things my grandma taught me.

She was a very crafty woman...even when she was really old (around 80), she helped the community hospital and poor families by making clothes and blankets for newborn babies. She even got an award for that!

Now i will make some pom poms with my kids, and we will try to make them look like angry birds

You need:

  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Wool

1. Make two cardboard doughnuts and put them together. Tie the wool around them

2. Wrap the wool around the doughnut until it's fully covered
3. Here's the tricky part! Once it's done, cut the wool around the edges, between the two pieces of cardboard, holding tightly the center of the pom pom.
4.Pass a length of wool between the two pieces of cardboard and tie it together.
5.Remove the cardboard and give the pom pom a haircut if necessary!
Now, these are our angry bird pom poms

And this is a girl version, with two small pom poms for the ears.

Hope you like them!!

Easiest catapult ever!

I love popsicle sticks!

They are cheap, enviromental friendly, and easy to get.

I found this catapult around the web I decided we had to make one with my kid. He was so excited about it, he even gave me the idea of making our own angry birds game. I'll try to make it possible, one of this days!

For now, let's make the catapult.

You need:

  • Rubber bands

  • Popsicle sticks

  • Small bottle cap

  • Gorilla glue or hot glue gun

1. Take 6 popsicle sticks and tie them together with a rubber band on both ends.

2. Take two more sticks and tie them tight on one end.

3. Put the 6 popsicles in the middle of the other two. Tie them together with another rubber band as shown.

4. Glue a small bottle cap near the top edge with a hot glue gun.

5. Have fun!

Hi! This is my new blog

Hello everyone! My name is Leslie and i'm from Argentina. I've decided to start this blog just for fun purposes. I'm a graphic designer, mother of two kids, aged 6 and 9, and sometimes is quite difficult to keep them away from techy stuff. I hope this blog helps with your kids too!
